Family Holiday Traditions in the USA - Little Known Fun Facts and Trivia

Here at Footsteps Clothing this is our very favorite time of year. We have the privilege and honor of talking with so many people around the country (and around the world) about their family holiday traditions. Usually we are helping these families select Matching Christmas Pajamas for the adults in their family with matching or coordinating childrens playwear outfits. We also get to hear about the many various ways families are spending their holidays together and the fun and special traditions that they follow year after year. Every family celebrates in their own unique way with their own twists on tradition. But traditions start somewhere, often very basic. As we Americans tend to do, we have added our own twist to holiday traditions that originally began long before we arrived in America.

** Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational and entertainment purposes. Footsteps Clothing sells pajamas in adult sizes only and does NOT sell pajamas in childrens sizes. All outfits in childrens sizes are designed as playwear and not intended for sleeping activities.

Please enjoy these little known facts about our very own holiday traditions here in the United States:

·         Each year 30-35 million real Christmas trees are sold in the United States

·         Christmas Trees are sold in every states including Alaska and Hawaii

·         Christmas trees are grown about 15 years before being sold

·         The Salvation Army has been sending Santa Claus-clad donation collectors into the streets since the 1890s.

·         The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk named St. Nicholas

·         St. Nicholas made his first inroads into American popular culture towards the end of the 18th century

·         The gingerbread house traditions became popular in the US after the story of Hansel and Grettel was published

·         Gingerbread cookies were often enjoyed with hot apple cider as they are today. Although the cookies were prepared and tasted much different than the y do today, the ginger root was the main spice and grown locally

·         Christmas wasn't declared a federal holiday until June 26, 1870.

·         From 1659 to 1681, the celebration of Christmas was outlawed in Boston, and law-breakers were fined five shillings.

As for our favorite holiday tradition of ChristmasPajamas for the Whole Family, there is no official origin recorded. However, we have spoken to grandmothers and great-grandmothers buying our matching holiday pajamas who remember their own grandmothers making matching pjs for the family! So this tradition has been around a while. In recent years it has become more and more popular and families are giving out their matching pjs anytime between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Some as early as August to prepare for the family Christmas Card. Enjoy your holiday and your family this year and every year!

All About Family Christmas Pajamas

Matching Christmas Pajamas are a special tradition for families everywhere during the holiday season. We are privileged to experience the joy and love that our customers share with us year after year. Bringing joy and togetherness to families is our mission and the ultimate goal of our Love Your Family brand and our company.  In this article, I will guide you through the different types and styles of Christmas Pajamas for adults with matching playwear outfits for kids that we at Footsteps Clothing are proud to offer.

** Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational and entertainment purposes. Footsteps Clothing sells pajamas in adult sizes only and does NOT sell pajamas in childrens sizes. All outfits in childrens sizes are designed as playwear and not intended for sleeping activities.

Our Products

Our Christmas Pajamas are only sold in adult sizes: adult small to adult 2XL. All of our matching holiday outfits in youth, child, toddler and baby sizes are playwear shirt and pant clothing sets and not sleepwear. In childrens sizes, all our print pants are flame resistant polyester. The material is combed for extra softness but while the pattern is identical to the adult pajama pants, the material is lighter weight and feel.  Some sets are only available with solid color pants and these are fleece or cotton, loose-fit and comfy. Tops, both short-sleeve and long-sleeve are largely 100% cotton. Some have a bit of poly mixed in and you can read in the detail product description the exact material of the tops for specific products. Our expert designers pair our holiday tops with pants that match and complement the design of the top. All our clothing sets are unique and can only be found with us. Our Love Your Family brand is trademarked and we are the only seller.  Many of our apparel products are made in USA and we strive to bring USA made products to you. If there is a choice between manufacturers, we will choose the USA company even if at a slightly higher cost. Due to the matching nature of our products, we are unable to get all sizes we need from USA manufacturers and we do use others, however, we try our best to buy USA first and from other countries only as needed. In addition, our printers and other consultants are local. Our employees are our greatest resource and we employ hard-working, fun-loving people on a seasonal basis.

Our Designs

We currently offer 14 different holiday designs. Many are available in short-sleeve and long-sleeve and paired with pants and boxer shorts. We offer so many options to fit every member of your family. In my family, my daughter and I are always cold and we prefer the long-sleeved pant sets. My son, on the other hand is warm-blooded and always warm. He likes the short-sleeve tee and boxer sets. We have something for everybody. The tee and boxer sets are especially great for families in warm weather climates as they celebrate the holiday season. Our team of designers dreams up new fun holiday designs every year. We generally just add the new designs to our inventory without discontinuing previous years’ designs. This is a great benefit to us and to customers and is something unique to us. Most pajama and clothing companies replace the previous years’ designs to make room for their current year inventory. We have found that the high quality of our products allows customers to enjoy them year after year. However, people grow, get married, babies get born. So we are proud to offer existing design year after year so that your family can add on and change sizes as needed. In addition, our desings are so popular that families who choose to outfit their families in new Christmas clothing each year for family pictures or Christmas morning can choose from last year’s best sellers even if they chose a different design the previous year.

Our Customers

One of the best things about our company is the fun interaction we are privileged to experience with our customers. I have return customers call me year after year to buy Christmas pajamas for their whole family. Some customers I speak to for 5 years now! And it is so fun to hear how the kids are growing, who is getting married, adoptions and babies born and how families are growing and changing. We are thrilled by our return customers because we strive for excellent products and amazing customer service. One great grandma I speak to every august buys Christmas outfits for her children, grand-children and great grandchildren, spouses and pets totaling a family of 40! Customers also appreciate how easy it is to get fast size exchanges and easy returns if needed.
